Sunday Morning Update

You know, it's getting harder and harder for my hubby and I to trudge through the holidays. Being childless, it is very difficult to "gear up" and to try and stay in pace with everyone else's frenetic energy. Of course, we avoid the long lines and crowded shopping malls, but in a way, I miss that adrenaline rush of being among hurrying, joyful people. I guess ours is a kind of quieter, more subdued joy of the season. We are thankful for each other as we explore new rituals and celebrations that are meaningful to just us. We hang the Christmas stocking for our beloved black lab and we put up a tree so that I can hang the ornaments that my mom gave to me on her last Christmas with us. In the true spirit of Christmas, those few things are really enough to put the joy and magic of the season into our hearts. Happy Holidays everyone!

Tuesday's AM Thoughts

Okay, I just have to say this...do you suppose that Tom Brady's powers are all in his hair?  You know, like Samson and Delilah? I say, cut that hair and let's see what happens. All you Jets fans could have gone to bed really early last night. I'm just saying...

Anyway, I'm off to a lovely destination restaurant with a friend today for our Christmas lunch.  I'm really looking forward to the 5-course, gourmet lunch and the great conversations we always have.  Let the chatting and eating begin!

Saturday's Musings (or Rantings?)

Okay, here goes! The very first post I have ever written! Sounds exciting, but it's a little intimidating. You'll see by the title of my blog that I am a middle-aged, hormonally unbalanced, currently unemployed "housewife." The word "housewife" is in quotations because, although I appear to be a wife who stays home, I do not consider myself to be a domestic goddess by any stretch of the imagination. Far from it.

See, I think I'm in the midst of a mid-life crisis caused by a retired husband, no children and no job. Sort of makes me sound like a loser, doesn't it? Well, I like to think of this period in my life as the beginning of a great adventure. Adventure, you say? What adventure? I guess you could say that with the lack of anything else interesting going on around here, just getting older can be seen as a great adventure!

So, stick with me and I will try inject a little humor, a little insight and a little fun into your days from here on out. I promise, no speeches, no political grandstanding, no discussions of current world affairs, but just plain old, unadulterated observations by me of my small universe and those who revolve in and out of it. Stay tuned!
